About the Author

Alan Sommer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, in 1986 and a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1990.  He has served as a parish pastor for over 17 years, and has been a companion to many families and individuals who have experienced the pain that death brings.  He currently pastors at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church in Cameron Park, California, where he lives with his wife Beth and their two children.
